Private Guided Hiking Overview

Enjoy a guided hike with your group at your pace, choose the hike below that best fits your group, or let your guide create a custom trekking experience that will exceed your expectations. The Red Pine Nature Trail and Lookout Ridge Trails are great for families or for hikers looking for shorter hikes with great views. The Tombstone Trail is a perfect escape on a hot summer day for those hikers seeking solitude and a moderate excursion. The Condor Trail is recommended for those looking for a longer more strenuous hike, but not overly technical. The Fantasy Ridge Trail is for advanced trekkers looking to reach the highest peak at Canyons and challenge themselves by crossing the knife edged Fantasy Ridge. Difficulty and duration vary on selected routes, available at 10:00am & 2:00pm with 48 hour advance reservation.

Red Pine Nature Hike
Take pleasure in this guided hike through gentle aspen mountain meadows and enjoy the pristine alpine landscape. This guided mountain tour is perfect for families looking for an easier hike and introduction to our network of trails at the mid mountain area.
Difficulty: Easy
Distance: 2 miles

Lookout Ridge Hike
Join one of our experienced mountain guides for a moderate hike on a scenic single track trail. This hike will take you near our mid mountain reservoir, you might even spot the tiger trout soaking up the sun in the sparkling water.  Continue your hike to the Lookout Ridge and enjoy the spectacular views of Dream Peak and 9990. This will be an experience you won’t soon forget! 
Distance: 3 miles
Difficulty: Easy-Moderate with 300 feet of elevation gain

Tombstone Hike
Cool off on a hot summer day on this shaded trail that follows a stream meandering through the forest. This moderate hike travels through a lush mountain meadow abundant in wildflowers and alive with a variety of flora and fauna. We recommend this trail for those who want to experience the differing environments that exist in this mountain region.
Distance: 4 miles
Difficulty: Moderate with 600 feet of elevation gain

Condor Hike
This scenic trail begins in Canyons Resort Village and weaves up the mountain through beautiful aspen and pine forests. Enjoy the expansive views of Canyons and the Wasatch Mountains, and then complete your hike with a scenic gondola ride over our majestic mountain landscape back to the Resort Village. We recommend this trail for those hikers looking for an extended tour and may not be suitable for young children 12 & under.
Distance: 7 miles
Difficulty: Strenuous with 1,300 feet elevation gain

Fantasy Ridge Hike
Lace up your boots and bring your camera, this hike will lead you along a pristine mountain stream, through pine and aspen forests,  across a windswept ridge, and up to the highest peak on our mountain at 9,990 feet. Majestic views of both sides of the Wasatch, and perhaps an encounter with a golden eagle will be your reward for conquering this strenuous and technical hike. Due to the difficult nature and exposure of this hike, participants 15 & older please.  Some scrambling required.
Distance: 6 miles
Difficulty: Strenuous/Technical with 1,890 feet elevation gain


All guided hikes depart from the Resort Activities Desk in Canyon Mountain Sports, located in the Resort Village. Gondola ticket is not included in tour price. Water, snack, and a camera are recommended for your guided hike. Please dress for the possibility of changing mountain weather. Canyons Resort reserves the right to cancel guided tours anytime for weather, safety, and trail conditions. 48 hour reservation required, cancellations made within 24 hours of the tours start will incur a fee equivalent to 50% of the total cost.  For no call-no shows and cancellations occurring after the tours start time; the cancellation fee is 100% of the total cost of the tour.  Weather is not a viable reason for cancellation; Canyons management will determine if a tour will not proceed due to weather.
