Lovers of film, food, music, and the active outdoor lifestyle will cherish this summer’s bounty of family fun.

The 2013 Canyons summer schedule includes:

• Exhilarating descents and/or quality instruction for mountain bikers of all ages in Utah’s only lift-served gravity mountain biking park, Canyons Bike Park
• Seven Saturday night concerts headlined by The English Beat and JJ Grey & Mofro
• Soaring, screaming, thrilling journeys on the three unique rides of the Zip Tour adventure
• Miles and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails
• Tranquil rides across Canyons’ alpine lake via pedal boat
• Family favorites like concerts, fishing, 18-hole putting course and disc golf
• Acclaimed film screenings from the Sundance Film Festival
• Culinary magic and “al fresco” dining from The Farm, Red Pine Lodge and Red Tail Grill

Canyons Resort Village springs to life again with indoor/outdoor dining, Red Pine Gondola rides, the 18-hole mountain themed putting course, shopping and equipment rentals at Canyon Mountain Sports and lounging on Ski Beach. After a 10-minute ride with Park City’s best views on the Gondola, the Red Pine Lodge mid-mountain adventure center debuts more trails in Canyons Bike Park like Cliffhanger and Split Decision, an expanded network of hiking and biking trails; boating, picnics and fishing at Canyons alpine lake; Zip Tour and an 18-hole, par-54 Disc Golf course.

“Our guides are excited and our mountain is primed to welcome our guests back,” said Mike Goar, general manager of Canyons Resort. “We had a small army of volunteers participate on National Trails Day (June 1) to beautify many of our hiking and biking trails. Our chefs have created new menus, the gondolas are polished – we’re ready!”

Signature summer events commence June 5 with the weekly Farmers’ Market at Canyons (Wednesdays Noon-6pm) at the base of the Cabriolet lift. The summer concert series, headlined by JJ Grey & Mofro (July 20) and The English Beat (August 17) begins in July. Canyons Resort’s Summer Film Series will run on August 9th and 16th as a precursor for the 2013 Sundance Institute Summer Series which will bring three additional screenings to the resort village.

Canyons Resort Summer Film Series & 2013 Sundance Institute Summer Screening Series
With a strong history of serving as a cultural catalyst, the nonprofit Sundance Institute is once again presenting free outdoor screenings of Sundance Film Festival favorites on select Friday evenings in August and September, including a new “community choice” film:

Canyons Resort Summer Film Series
• August 9 – Senna (2011 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award winner)

2013 Sundance Institute Summer Series

• September 6 – Utah Community Choice Film. Sundance Institute wants YOU to program the last film of the summer series. From July 1 – August 15, visit www.sundance.org/utah to vote for your favorite film out of four past Sundance Film Festival crowd pleasers (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Garden State, and Searching for Sugarman or Sound City). The winning film will be announced in late August.

Zip Tour Adventure
Canyons’ one-of-a-kind Zip Tour Adventure takes flight again this June, offering three distinct rides for a unique family experience. After a quick flight on a training zip line, guests soar on the intermediate zip line that traverses nearly 700 feet and offers a refreshing tree-top panoramic ride. It’s merely a warm up for the longest zip line in Utah which stretches nearly 2,000 feet and soars more than 200 feet above the ravine between Lookout Peak and Red Pine Lodge. The 50 mile-per-hour advanced zip line creates a pure sensation of suspension and an unforgettable adrenaline rush. Don’t close your eyes though – grazing moose might be part of the spectacular scenery!

Guided Hiking Tours
Amidst the spectacular Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountains, Canyons Resort is the ideal base camp for an assortment of unique hiking excursions. Join a Canyons guide and unlock the secrets of our wilderness as you encounter breathtaking views, stunning high mountain wildflowers, the comforting shade of aspens and firs and an occasional visit from the deer, elk and other fauna. These guided hiking adventures range from a family friendly nature walk (Lookout Ridge Trail) to challenging peak-bagging workouts (Fantasy Ridge). Customize your day with a made-to-order picnic lunch to complete the perfect adventure for you and/or your group.

Mountain Biking
Building on the rave reviews of its inaugural season, Canyons Bike Park expands this summer to offer new flow trails with a variety of dirt and wood features for riders of all abilities. Utah’s only lift-serviced, flow-trail style Bike Park is accessed off the High Meadow and Short Cut chair lifts located at the Red Pine mid-mountain adventure area. Trails include White Rabbit and Flying Salmon which offer an introduction to gravity riding. Wild Mouse adds rollers, berms and jumps to offer riders more challenge. Rally Cat (very difficult) and Cliffhanger (expert only) attract riders with advanced bike handling skills. New this season is the Split Decision trail for experts only, accessed via Dropkick trail as Canyons Bike Park expands to Lookout Peak. Improvements to Ricochet and gravity-fed access to Insurgent round out the enhancements to the Canyons Bike Park.

Canyons Bike Park complements an existing network of 20+ miles of single track throughout the resort. All day and half day clinics are available through the all-new Canyons Mountain Bike Academy. Mountain Bike 101 offers Canyons’ most complete introductory package (ages 8-adult) including instruction, lift ticket and bike rental. Bike Park 201 offers instruction for experienced riders on flow and downhill trails. Customized half- or full-day private lessons are also available. Rent state-of-the-art GT and Cannondale bicycles from their 2013 line, or shop from a complete line of cycling apparel and gear at Canyon Mountain Sports in the Resort Village. Canyons Bike Park season passes, starting at just $199, are on sale. New this season is a 4-pack Bike Park package which includes four transferable Bike Park tickets for only $99.

Alpine Lake
A refreshing short walk from the top of the High Meadow lift is Canyons’ alpine lake. The placid waters are home to tiger trout and migrating waterfowl and serve as a serene spot to relax. Rent pedal boats, learn the basics of fishing or simply savor a picnic lunch in this stunning mountain setting.

18-Hole Putting Course
Nothing about the Canyons Resort Village putting course is ordinary. Water hazards and sand traps dot the 18-hole mountain-themed course, while benches, umbrellas, Adirondack chairs and soaring western skies all greet families of all ages who enjoy this throwback pastime. Join the action, or watch it from the “clubhouse” inside the all-new Canyons Kids store.

Dining
Designed to enliven all the senses, an unrivaled collection of distinctive mountain cuisine awaits you at Canyons Resort. Under the direction of Executive Chef Zeke Wray, this extraordinary group of restaurants offers the utmost in culinary excellence. The Farm’s commitment to local, sustainably produced cuisine, exceptional service and a refined wine list bring it to the top of discriminating diners’ lists in Park City. Meantime, Red Tail Grill rolls out a summer version of its Southwest influenced menu, with signature margaritas and more than 30 tequilas. Drop into the Waldorf Astoria Park City for elegant dining at Powder or casual fare at Scoop, home to poolside specialty drinks, treats and gelato. The choice on the mountain is Red Pine Lodge. Red Pine will feature mountain favorites from Canyons’ renowned dining venues such as Lookout Cabin’s Wagyu Burger, Tombstone Grill’s Smoked Brisket Sandwich or one of the mouth-watering salads from Cloud Dine.

Events
Summit County’s largest fireworks gathering takes place every July 3rd, when Canyons’ slopes are adorned with blankets and picnic baskets. Even if you’re not here for this local favorite, there’s a special event every week at Canyons. The Park City Farmers’ Market at Canyons lures foodies, health nuts and families every Wednesday from Noon-6pm, starting June 5. If racing is your niche, mark your calendars for the Enduro Cup (Sat., July 20) or Point-to-Point (Sat., Aug. 31) mountain bike races or the Mid-Mountain Marathon (Sat., Sept. 7). If sampling great wine is more your style, don’t miss the Grand Tasting event of the 9th Annual Park City Food & Wine Classic (Sat., July 13).
