Canyons will once again have our amazing and FREE Saturday Summer Concert Series. Each Saturday, beginning July 20th and ending August 31st, Canyons will have FREE live music starting at 6:00pm. The Cabriolet lift will be open each Saturday at 9:00am.

Blankets, picnics and chairs will not be allowed in the concert venue until 4:00pm. Dogs are not allowed in the Ski Beach concert venue.

And due to the popularity of these concerts, we would appreciate carpooling, taking public transportation or riding your bicycle to the show!

Over the past seven years, Monophonics have staked their claim as one of the west coast’s premier bands. Raised amid the Bay Area’s rich musical culture, Monophonics has proudly carried on the tradition of music native to their hometown, which flourished during the birth of funk music and psychedelia.

About Monophonics:

Formed in 2005; originally an instrumental ensemble, in the last 2 years they have come to find their own sound. The foundation is the blistering funky drums of Austin Bohlman and soulful bass playing of Myles O’Mahony, fuzzy echo guitars by Ian McDonald, a powerhouse horn section made up of Ryan Scott & Alex Baky and the swirling organ & dynamic vocals of Kelly Finnigan. The result is a psychedelic soul & heavy funk sound, which harks back to the styling of the late 60’s and early 70’s, all while keeping its feet planted in the present.

As a mainstay of Bay Area venues such as The Independent, Great American Music Hall & Sweetwater Music Hall the Monophonics created a national buzz and fervent worldwide following. With 2012 being a break out year playing over 150 shows in 7 different countries. Sharing the stage & bill with such names as Al Green, Budos Band, Rodriguez, Orgone, Galactic, Edward Sharp & The Magnetic Zeros, Dennis Coffey, Syl Johnson, Soulive and many more.

The new record from San Francisco based band Monophonics entitled “In Your Brain” sits on the fuzzy psych side of soul and funk. Paying homage to innovators of psychedelic soul such as Sly Stone, Norman Whitfield and Funkedelic’s George Clinton the 6 piece outfit displays their ability to put a moody stamp on each composition whether it’s an original or cover. Touching on everything from cinematic soul, heavy funk, 60’s rock and spaghetti western laced with yellow sunshine acid, the album is sure to leave you tuned in and turned on!

Thanks to Mountain Town Music for the concert production.

Special Notes on Dogs and Chairs:
For the safety and enjoyment of all our guests, we kindly remind you that dogs are no longer allowed in the concert venue.

Due to the steepness of our new concert venue, guests may bring their own chair to our concerts provided that the chair height is 9" or less. “Low back” chairs are therefore allowed, but camping chairs and chairs with sharp legs are not allowed. There are no exceptions to this rule and guests bringing chairs that do not meet this requirement will be asked to take them back to their vehicles. Chairs meeting the height requirements are available for purchase at Canyon Mountain Sports.
