PARK CITY, UT (December 4, 2013) – Canyons Resort, Utah’s largest and most dynamic ski and snowboard resort, today announced a partnership with Mountain Trails Foundation that will raise tens of thousands of dollars annually for the nonprofit foundation to continue its trail restoration and maintenance projects in Summit County, Utah.
Beginning today, Canyons, through its company stewardship program, Vail Resorts Echo, has launched a voluntary guest donation program that enables guests to contribute $1 on the online purchase of a variety of resort activities and amenities including season pass sales, online ticket purchases, lodging and, coming in 2014, golf.
Dollars raised will go directly to trail restoration, maintenance and the building of new trails.
To celebrate the occasion, Canyons’ and Mountain Trails representatives toasted community members this morning with a free cup of coffee (and a reusable mug) at six Park City area coffee shops. (Photo attached. For additional images, please contact Canyons communications.)
"We have a strong commitment to preserving and enhancing the iconic locations that surround Canyons," said Mike Goar, Canyons’ General Manager. "Mountain Trails Foundation exemplifies the spirit of hands-on, on-the-ground environmental restoration and maintenance work that resonates with our guides (employees) and guests.”
"The guest donation program has proven to be very successful at enabling Vail Resorts to both raise money and awareness for critical projects in the areas around our resorts," said Blaise Carrig, President for Vail Resorts Mountain Division. “We are excited to launch this program immediately, building upon the success of our partnerships with the Tahoe Fund and the National Forest Foundation.”

About the Mountain Trails Foundation
Mountain Trails Foundation, a non-profit 501c3 was established in 1992, at a time when Park City had only a few hand-cut trails all of which were on private lands. Now in its 20th year, it has been helping to advocate for non-motorized trails and the healthy lifestyle they promote, with nearly 400 miles of trail currently online in the Park City area and more to come in the future. The company works with local and private groups to expand the areas trail system — a network that remains the only trail system in the country to be named a Gold Ride Center by the International Mountain Bicycling Association. The Mountain Trails Foundation derives most of its income from its race series and donations. To learn more or find out how you can become involved, visit the group’s website, MountainTrails.org.
