Stars Shine at Canyons Resort

Everyone here in Park City rolls out the red carpet for the Sundance Film Festival.  It energizes our community, injects a massive economic boost into our economy and makes for great people-watching.  If it also frees up the slopes for locals to enjoy, so be it.  Everyone benefits!

Here at Canyons we like to suggest that “you never know who you’ll meet on the Orange Bubble” and this past weekend is no exception.  Did you see Justin Bieber?  We did – in December – but rumor has it he was shredding this weekend too.

Who stopped by for certain?

Well, Montel Williams won our hearts when he bought drinks for Ski Patrollers, Ski School instructors and more than 100 others during après ski at Umbrella Bar on Thursday.

Then on Friday, Stefan Lessard, bassist for Dave Matthews Band, and Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready timed their annual visit so they could play a set together at Red Pine Lodge for our third annual Sundance party.  Speaking of musicians, those two attracted the likes of Nate Ruess (Fun.), Jon Popper (Blues Traveller) and members of Foo Fighters, because good musicans follow good music.

Our restaurants to stellar business every night, but it has more “star” quality during Sundance.  Our diners rubbed elbows with the likes of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Adrian Grenier, Daniel Dae Kim and, of course, Mario Lopez and Jerry Penacoli of Extra.

A handful of Olympians cruised our slopes this weekend too… Kaylin Richardson, Holly Flanders and 1998 Gold Medalist Tommy Moseley, just to name three.  Oh, and the Stanley Cup partied here, too.  How cool is that?

Finally, along with stars of the screen and snow come those who cover them.  There are literally thousands of media members in town for Sundance, but we’d like to extend a special shout out to,, Extra, Interview magazine, E! Entertainment Network, STAR magazine, Sundance Channel, FOX Sports North, Mountain magazine and Powder magazine – just some of the outlets whose writers, editors and producers we were happy to host at Canyons Resort.

There’s still six more days of Sundance left… remember, you never know who you might meet on the Orange Bubble.
