How to Enjoy Spring in a Ski Town
Play Hard. Live Easy: this pretty much sums up March in a ski town.
It marks the beginning of the end of the winter season and is notorious for bringing a late season storm or two which makes us locals giddy. For the most part though, you can expect blue bird skies and soft groomers. Aside from a good powder day, spring skiing is my favorite.
It also happens to be when Canyons Resort hosts it’s annual Spring Gruv celebration. For 7 years running, Canyons brings us live music, free resort activities and the notorious pond skimming. For ten days in March you can ride, ski, boogey, compete, spectate, laugh and have the best time of your life. Along with the other family friendly activities happening around the village, I can’t think of a better way to spend the weekend. Making turns during the day and getting my gruv on in the afternoon. For a wanna be ski bum, I can’t think of a better way to spend my weekend.
The 7th Annual Pond Skimming Contest that will take place on Saturday, March 22nd is arguably one of the best days of the year. Not for the faint of heart, be prepared for chilly water and outrageous costumes. The crowd will alternate between cheering you on and playfully heckling you. It’s fun to participate and even more fun to watch!
Mountain Town Music has teamed up with Canyons to bring a killer line up for this year’s Spring Gruv concert series. Live, free music will be happening in the Resort Village on Saturdays and select Sundays through mid April.

Ride. Ski. Gruv. Repeat.
See you up there!!
