Gluten Free Dining at Canyons

Whether you have Celiac and can’t digest gluten at all or perhaps you’re just trying to eat less wheat, either way it seems that more and more people are leaning towards a gluten free diet. Canyons has taken note and jumped aboard the gluten free train. Most of the on-mountain dining at Canyons offers something if not multiple offerings for the gluten free diner. Here’s a quick guide to navigating a gluten free diet at Canyons Resort:

Pork Loin at The Farm

The Farm, open for après and dinner, offers prepared from scratch, sustainable fare. It’s been voted best restaurant in Utah and for good reason. The menu changes seasonally and it’s consistently good. I ate there last month and the Charcuterie Board and the Short Ribs were highlights. The Beet Salad and Pork Loin shouldn’t be overlooked either!

Red Tail Grill, open for lunch, après and dinner, has the most extensive gluten free menu on the mountain. I’ve eaten here a few times, loving everything I’ve had so it’s hard to pick my favorites. The RTG Wings and Baked Taquitos are my favorite starters and I highly recommend the Chicken Enchiladas or Chopped Salad with Butternut Squash as a main. Don’t forget to sample something from the tequila bar or order a pomegranate margarita to wash your meal down!

Lookout Cabin, located of the mid-station off the Orange Bubble Express offers lunch and a full-service bar. You can’t go wrong with the House Roasted Turkey Cobb Salad or the Grilled Vegetable Salad. If you want something a little heartier to warm your belly on a cold day, order the Roasted Vegetable and Quinoa Stuffed Bell Pepper.

Sun Lodge, just above the base of the Sun Peak Express is spacious and offers made to order salads among other offerings. You get to pick your protein to go atop one of their artistry made salads and they make a mean veggie chili topped with pepper-jack cheese and chopped green onions.

Chili at Red Pine Lodge

Red Pine Lodge, is centrally located at top of the Red Pine Gondola. You can grab a quick breakfast of eggs, bacon and potatoes before you hit the slopes or if you stop in for lunch, order the Grilled Veggie Grinder minus the

bun or a bowl of soup minus the bread bowl.

The Cabin Restaurant, located in the Grand Summit Hotel, offers a daily buffet breakfast where you can order an omelet or eggs to order, fresh fruit and yogurt, breakfast meats and cereals. It’s a great, relaxing way to start your morning and fuel up before hitting the slopes!

Canyons does their best to ensure things are gluten free but it’s always best to know before you go. Only you know what you can tolerate so if you have any concerns about a menu item, ask!!! The staff will be happy to help you navigate the menu and if you are still unsure, don’t be afraid to ask a manager or chef to come out and talk to you.
