These afternoon sessions will introduce you to our Terrain-based Teaching methodology for enhancing your existing skills and teaching you new ones based on individualized applications. These sessions will focus on specific skills of your choice, such as: mastering your turns or pole plants, tackling bumps, tree skiing, adapting your technique for changes in snow conditions, and more. |
Instead of using your poles to poke at friends, this course teaches you to master different types of pole plants for different types of desired turns—as well as advanced tricks of the trade for moguls and tougher terrain. We’ll explore general pole use for the uninitiated and its nuanced application for more advanced skiers—all to obtain better balance, timing, and confidence. Course is split between intermediate and advanced, so please sign up for the appropriate level. |
With this application course, we’ll show you the trick to turning maddening moguls into mounds of fun. Suggested pre-requisite is the Art of the Pole Plant. |
To get the most thrill and enjoyment out of our highly varied terrain here at Canyons, you must understand the concept of “Turn Shape.” This course teaches you to manage the shape of your turns to achieve better results. With better turn control, you can master the gap between trees with ease and flow, gain confidence, and stay in better control when the trail narrows or while cruising around on blue groomers. Get the most out of your equipment and your day with turn shape precision. |
Sometimes great adventure is found where machines dare not roam, so here we teach you how to apply your skills un-groomed terrain and tough-conditions. We will practice enhanced movements on the trails and then move to exploring trees, backcountry, and un-groomed powder stashes. This course is grouped by ability level and customized by the instructor based on a group skills assessment. Please select either the intermediate (blue) or advanced (black) option based on your skill level. |
